The MAAC awards never seem to fall far from the happenings at Manhattan College. Despite falling short of spot in the MAAC Tournament, the Manhattan Baseball team placed two players on the All-MAAC First Team, another pair on the All-MAAC Second Team, and a final duo on the All-MAAC Rookie Team.
- Sophomore Outfielder/Infielder Chase Swain and redshirt sophomore Outfielder/Infielder Daniel Perez each received first team nods after helping anchor the middle of the Jaspers order. Swain led Manhattan and finished third in the MAAC with a .392 batting average.Â
- Perez recorded the most hits of any Jaspers with 61 base knocks, and had the second best batting average among Manhattan players with a .328 mark. Perez finished top three on the team in five major offensive categories (BA., runs, hits, walks, OB%) and Swain cracked the top three in nine categories (BA., OPS., hits, doubles, triples, RBIs, total bases, slugging percentage, OB%).Â
- Sophomore Infielder/Outfielder
Trevor Hansen and sophomore Infielder
Drew Wyers garnered All-MAAC Second Team honors as the youth movement continues to progress in Riverdale.Â
- Hansen paced Manhattan with nine home runs and Wyers drilled eight long balls for second most among Jaspers players. Wyers and Hansen were also two of only three Manhattan players to compile 40 plus runs batted in, with 46 and 41, respectively. Wyers also registered a .925 OPS which only trailed Swain's 1.039 mark.Â
- The All-MAAC Rookie Team featured freshman left-handed pitcher
Michael Staiano and freshman Right-Handed Pitcher/Infielder
Vincent Davis.Â
- Staiano was the standard-bearer in WHIP among all Manhattan pitchers at 1.40. He also posted the second most strikeouts with 60, only four back of
Justin Solimine's team-high 64 punch-outs despite pitching 16 less innings.Â
- In 41 games, Davis hit .268 with seven homers, 32 runs batted in, a .488 slugging percentage, and a .379 on-base percentage.Â
