RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The 2022 signing class for head coach
Cat Clifford and the Manhattan softball program features four newcomers; Bella Cahueque, Jamie Falotico, Sophia Kiseloski, and Maddy Weir.
"I am thrilled about Soph, Bella, Maddy, and Jamie joining our program," said Clifford. "They bring a wealth of versatility and experience that adds depth to our roster. Off the field, we have four quality humans that will help us build on the culture we have created. Each of these student-athletes will look to make an immediate impact on the program and increase competition."
Cahueque comes to the Empire State from the Golden State and Upland (Calif.) High School. The shortstop and outfielder helped Upland win the CIF Southern Section Championship as a junior. The four-year varsity player earned the CIF Southern Section Scholar-Athlete Award. Additionally, Cahueque earned the President's Education Award and was a four-year honor roll student at Upland.
Falotico arrives in Riverdale from Emerson Junior Senior High School and Ridgewood, N.J. The middle infielder played four years of softball and soccer there. On the diamond, Falotico was a three-time first team all-league performer. As a senior, she was named first team all-group, first team all-county, second team all-state, and second team all-North Jersey. Katie, Jamie's older sister, played softball at UAlbany.
Kiseloski played her high school softball at Mount Saint Dominic Academy under head coach Rob Stern. The former Lion was a First Team NFCA All-American in Region 10, New Jersey All-State selection, All-NJ Non-Public A selection, and All-Super Essex Conference. She was named the Super Essex Conference Player of the Year as a senior. As a freshman at Mount Saint Dominic, Kiseloski was named Super Essex Conference Co-Rookie of the Year.
Weir played at Immaculate Conception in Lodi, N.J., and for the NJ Heist on the club circuit. Weir caught and played some second base for Immaculate Conception. Immaculate Conception won a state title when Weir was a freshman. As a junior, Weir was a first team all-league catcher, First Team All-North Jersey, and second team all-county. Weir was a captain as a senior and was named first team all-league once again.
Clifford enters her second season at the helm of the Jaspers in 2023. Last season,
Annie Moore,
Lauren Rende, and
Ava Metzger earned All-MAAC honors for the Green and White.
