RIVERDALE, NY — Manhattan Softball came close to erasing a 4-0 deficit in game one before ultimately falling short 4-3, and then conceded a 15-1 loss in game two versus the Canisius Golden Griffins on Tuesday afternoon at Gaelic Park. With another home series on deck vs. Rider this weekend, the Jaspers will look to finish the 2025 season on a strong note.
GAME ONE: (Manhattan 3 | Canisius 4)

Manhattan went down 4-0 against the Golden Griffins, which collected its runs on a fielder's choice, a pair of wild pitches and a sacrifice fly.

The Jaspers did their best to stage a late comeback, scoring all three of its runs in the third inning.

Manhattan's small-ball strategy was effective, plating two runs on four singles before adding its final tally on a sacrifice fly to left field by Michayla Rodriguez.
GAME TWO: (F/5 Manhattan 1, Canisius 15)

Manhattan tacked on its lone run on a double down the left field line from Lindsey Hoag, scoring Brianna Estevez from second after she swiped second. The Jaspers trailed 2-1 after one inning.

The Golden Griffins posted eight runs in the third to run away with the win.

Manhattan recorded nine hits in game one, but were held to only two base knocks in game two.

Lindsey Hoag recorded a single in game one before driving in a run in game two on her RBI double.

Hoag has recorded hits in four of her last five games.

Sophia Kiseloski, Brianna Estevez and Tajianna Pickett all recorded two hits apiece in game one.

Manhattan will not compete in the 2025 MAAC Softball Championship after dropping both games to Canisius on Tuesday at Gaelic Park.
UP NEXT
Manhattan (10-32, 7-16 MAAC) will conclude the season with a three-game set this weekend versus the Rider Broncs (19-30, 12-10 MAAC). The Jaspers and Broncs will play two at Gaelic Park on Friday, and will reunite for the regular-season finale as well as Senior Day on Saturday. The Senior Day festivities at Gaelic will commence at approximately 11:40 am on Saturday followed by the first pitch at noon.
