Louisville, KY - Manhattan softball has been named an Easton/NFCA All-America Academic Team, ranking eighth in all of Division I with a team cumulative GPA of 3.630 for the 2018-19 academic year. In addition, 14 Jaspers earned Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete recognition, the most of any MAAC school.
Manhattan jumped up 41 spots over last season, when the team finished 49th out of 107 schools with a team GPA of 3.43. The Jaspers added five more individual academic awards this year, as well.Â
More than 8,000 student-athletes, a record number for the NFCA, were recognized this year across all collegiate divisions and high schools. Grand Canyon took the top Division I spot with a 3.760 GPA.Â
The NFCA recognition is one of several academic awards won by the Jaspers this past season. Manhattan tallied 11 student-athletes on the 2019 All-MAAC Academic Team, while
Adriana Gambino (Stamford, CT / Westhill) earned Google Cloud Academic All-District First Team recognition.
