RIVERDALE, NY – The Manhattan Jaspers Women's Basketball team and Head Coach
Heather Vulin have announced the signing of forward Ishuana Hunter.
"Ishuana (Hunter) is a New Jersey kid that has been extremely successful at the Division II level at Eastern New Mexico." Said Head Coach
Heather Vulin. "She is one of the most athletic players that I've seen to join our program, and I feel she has earned this opportunity to showcase her skills at the Division 1 level. We expect her to make an immediate impact."
Hunter, a 6-0 forward from Trenton, N.J., spent two seasons at Division II's Eastern New Mexico State, out of the Lone Star Conference. She logged a combined 41 games for the Greyhounds, and registered 26 starts.
While playing for the Greyhounds during the 2024-25 campaign, Hunter paced her team averaging 11.0 points-per-game, totaling 252 points on the year. As well as on the defensive side of the ball, capturing a team high 39 steals. After averaging 20.3 minutes-per-game and second on the team shooting 45 percent, to ultimately be named to the All-Lone Star Conference Second Team.
In her first season in the Land of Enchantment, the east coast native played in 18 games while starting in 17, leading the team averaging 14.4 points-per-game, 8.3 rebounds-per-game, and 149 overall caroms. She highlighted her first year with program single game highs in points, rebounds, and steals, all while capturing a spot on the All-Lone Star Conference Third Team.
Before arriving in New Mexico, Hunter starred at Labette Community College in Parsons, Kansas, where she contributed 10.9 points-per-game, while posting a team best 8.0 rebounds per game. During her lone season on the JUCO circuit, Hunter played an integral role in helping her team capture an NJCAA Region VI Tournament berth, advancing to the second round in the process.
The forward called Trenton Central High School home and contributed 1,200 points on the high school circuit, just 77 miles from Manhattan University.
Hunter will be pursuing her Masters in Organizational Leadership in Riverdale.
