The Manhattan men and women's track and field team competed at the Metro Atlantic Athletic
Conference Championships on May 4th and 5th at Rider University. The Jaspers charged their
way to a third place finish on the men's side with a total of 125 points, while the women took
fourth place in the competition with 88 points. Between the Manhattan men and women, the
Jaspers took home five first-place individual awards and six more second-place individual
accolades.
- Manhattan was bolstered by senior Kristin Stickdorn taking first-place honors in both the
discus and hammer throw. The Jaspers didn't go away quietly in the discus behind
Stickdorn, with senior Alexandra Caraher earning sixth place, freshman Bekah Bouton
getting seventh, and sophomore Mary Gill taking ninth.
- The Manhattan women throwers took the hammer competition by storm by claiming the
top three marks. Stickdorn was the cream of the crop followed by Gill in second place
and Caraher in third place.
-Stickdorn also added fourth place in the shot put while Caraher and Bouton took seventh
and 10th place, respectively.
Stickdorn was tabbed Field Performer of the Meet.
- With a high mark of 1.98m, sophomore Ivan Lytovchenko captured first place in the
men's high jump one year after finishing runner-up in the event.
- Led by RJ Decker's 66.70 meter hurl, Manhattan throwers claimed four of the five top
spots in the men's hammer throw, including senior Alex Kristeller in second, senior
Joseph Pelio in fourth, and sophomore Myron Corpuz in fifth.
- Graduate student Andria Scaglione dazzled her way to first place in the women's
10,000m with a time of 35:11.23. Scaglione also nailed down second place in the
women's 5000m with a time of 17:05.07.
- Alex Kristeller continued his stellar campaign with another second-place finish in the
discus. His top throw in the discus went 42.58m and he maxed out at 60.32m in the
hammer. Kristeller also occupied the fourth spot in the shot put.
- Freshman Lewis Forster put himself on the map in a big way by securing second place in
the men's javelin competition with a top throw of 55.13m.
- Sophomore Alex Bilello recorded a distance of 6.99m to earn second place in the men's
long jump event.
- Junior Darion Lopez captured third place in the 100m finals with his time of 10.78
seconds. Lopez's tremendous motor also guided him to a third-place finish in the 200m
with a time of 21.88 seconds.
- In the men's 400m finals, graduate student Noah Jefferson notched third place with a
time of 48.65 seconds while senior Harrison Alonzo checked in at sixth with a time of
50.09 seconds.
- Senior Jared Lautenslagher showed his might in the men's 10,000 meters when he
garnered third place with a time of 31:15.52. Sophomore Jaxon Newton (31.54.25)
cracked the top 10 coming in seventh, and junior Jack Flanagan (33:30.12) nabbed
14th place.
- In the men's 800m finals, junior Travis Delaney got on the board with a fifth place
showing clocking in at 1:54.06.
- Lautenslager also led all Jaspers in the men's 5000m finals by clocking in at 14:45.57 for
sixth place. Sophomores Newton and Adrian Alonso Canales took 16th and 21st place,
respectively. The latter also finished 10th place with a time of 9:53.41 in the men's
3000m steeplechase
- The younger crop of Jasper runners, specifically sophomore Bella Cannizzo and
freshman Bailee Christofis, adroitly navigated the women's 3000m steeplechase event
to the tune of fourth and fifth place finishes, respectively. Cannizzo registered a time of
11:27.29 while Christofis crossed the finish line at 11:31.32.
- In the women's 400m hurdle finals, junior Martina Martinez took home fifth place with a
time of 1:05.16.
- Manhattan just missed the podium in the men's 4x100 meter relay by yielding fourth
place. The Jaspers' pod consisted of Jefferson, Lopez, Dubnov Raz, and sophomore
Shane McCorry. The men's 4x400m relay one upped them by securing third place.
That cohort included Jefferson, Lopez, Alonzo, and junior Brian Oduor.
- The women's 4x100 meter relay featured Manhattan in sixth place anchored by Martinez,
sophomore Makayla Dorvil, senior Skye Lehr, and graduate student Lauren Chappell.
- Chappell launched her way to a sixth-place showing in the women's high jump reaching
as high as 1.42m.
