RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Director of athletics Marianne Reilly has announced John Odierna as the next head coach of the Manhattan College men's lacrosse program.
 
"We are excited to name John Odierna as our next men's lacrosse head coach at Manhattan College," said Reilly. "Hiring John Odierna shows Manhattan College's commitment to our men's lacrosse program. We want a seamless transition and to continue developing the amazing culture created over the past seven years while building alumni involvement with our program. John is well respected in the lacrosse community, and Manhattan is prepared to support his vision to elevate the program and be a MAAC championship contender each year."
 
Odierna was the associate head coach for the Jaspers for the last three seasons and has spent the previous seven seasons with the program.
 
"I would like to thank Marianne Reilly, Dr. Brennan O'Donnell, Br. Daniel Gardner, and the entire leadership of Manhattan for offering me the opportunity of a lifetime," said Odierna.

Odierna continued, "Our vision for the future of Manhattan Lacrosse is completely aligned, and I cannot wait to get to work building on this year's MAAC Championship. I'd also like to thank Drew Kelleher for believing in me seven years ago and allowing me to help build a championship culture that has put Manhattan Lacrosse back on the map. It's a great day to be a Jasper!"
 
Since arriving in Riverdale, Odierna has been the defensive coordinator and goalie coach for the Jaspers. Off the field, Odierna oversaw recruiting efforts and alumni relations for the program.
 
This past season the Jaspers were seventh in goals-against average and fourth in clearing in Division I on their way to winning the 2022 MAAC Championship and qualifying for the NCAA Tournament.
 
Defensively under Odierna, the Jaspers have finished in the top 10 nationally twice in goals-against (2022, 2021), man-down defense (2019, 2018), and clearing percentage (2022, 2019).

In 2022, Odierna tutored three All-MAAC selections on defense; Luke Pacher—first team, Christian Clifford, and Blake Lothian—second team. In 2021, goalkeeper Brendan Krebs was named MAAC Co-Defensive Player of the Year. Krebs was a two-time First Team All-MAAC selection.
 
Odierna graduated from Gettysburg College with a degree in business management. As a collegian, Odierna earned USILA Honorable Mention and Scholar All-American honors as a senior in 2011. Before his career at Manhattan, he spent time at Colby College and Stevens Institute of Technology on their coaching staffs.
