Bjorkman & Preckajlo Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – For the second straight season, Nina Bjorkman and Alexandra Preckajlo are CoSIDA Academic All-District selections.

The pair of Jaspers were two of the four MAAC student-athletes to make the all-district team.

Bjorkman, a five-time MAAC All-Academic Team selection across indoors and outdoors, was named the Most Outstanding Field Performer at the 2022 MAAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships two weeks ago. The native of Vasteras, Sweden, won the hammer and the discus. Bjorkman was over 2.5 meters clear of second in the discus with a new PR of 49.95m. In the hammer, Bjorkman won on her sixth and final attempt with a best of 50.90m. Academically, Bjorkman received The Francis B. Taylor Medal for Excellence in Science and Mathematics and The Medal for Environmental Studies at Manhattan's Commencement Exercises last week.

Preckajlo finished second in the hammer, third in the discus, and seventh in the hammer at the MAAC Championships. At the ECAC Championships, the graduate student won the discus with a best of 47.72m. Preckajlo collected four other wins outdoors in 2022. Preckajlo also set new personal bests in the discus and hammer this season—both coming at the Rider Invitational. Academically, the Ocean, N.J. native is a five-time MAAC Academic Team member.

The pair advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot.

First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.
