MAAC Releases Preseason Swimming & Diving Polls

Riverdale, NY - The Manhattan men's swimming & diving team was slated to finish eighth in the 2021-22 MAAC Swimming & Diving preseason poll, while the women were tabbed to finish ninth.

The Jasper men and women both secured a tenth place in the MAAC 2020 Swimming & Diving Championships in Buffalo, NY.
 
Rider was a clear favorite on the men's side, earning seven of the nine first-place votes and 70 total points, and was followed by Iona (63) in second, Marist (62) in third, Fairfield (58) in fourth, Monmouth (50) in fifth, and Canisius (41) in sixth.

Rounding out the poll in seventh is Niagara (28), followed by Manhattan (18) in eighth respectfully.

On the women's side, Fairfield was tabbed the favorite with 5 of the ten first-place votes and 95 total points, followed by Iona (86) in second receiving two first-place selections, Marist in third (77), Canisius (64) in fourth, Rider (62) in fifth, Monmouth in sixth (51) ahead of Niagara (48) in seventh.

Rounding out the poll in eighth is Siena (31), followed by Manhattan in ninth (21), and St.Peter's in tenth with 15 points.

Senior Kyle Bergin (Lynbrook, NY) leads the Jaspers after finishing third in the 100-meter backstroke in the 2020 Fairfield Invitational. 

On the women's side, junior Mackenzie Tuttle (Highland Mills, NY) paced the women in the 2020 MAAC Championships finishing 26th in the 200 freestyle with a sub-two-minute time of 1:59.34.

Both Manhattan Swimming & Diving teams will open their season this weekend at the Fairfield Invitational in Fairfield on Saturday, October 9 at 12:00 PM.

The 2022 MAAC Swimming and Diving Championships will be held again at the Burt Flickinger Center at Erie County Community College (ECC) in Buffalo, NY.
