Riverdale, NY - With the cancellation of spring sports for the 2020 campaign, Manhattan Athletics has changed its ATAX Student-Athletes of the Week segment to an ATAX Senior Spotlight. Moving forward, seniors from all of Manhattan's spring sports will be featured three times a week.
Today we shine the spotlight on baseball's T.J. Stuart (Milford, CT / Joseph A. Foran) and Liz Toohey (Garnet Valley, PA / Garnet Valley) from women's lacrosse.
Stuart went 1-1 with 27 strikeouts, against just eight walks, with a 2.42 ERA over 26.0 innings in 2020. He also limited opposing hitters to a scant .196 average, and was the MAAC Pitcher of the Week after firing a complete game victory in the back end of a doubleheader with UAlbany.
"T.J. made a tremendous impact in the program during his time at Manhattan, and was one of the top pitchers in the MAAC the last two years," said Head Coach Mike Cole. "We wish him nothing but the best moving forward."
Toohey played in three matches this past year, and scored her first collegiate goal at Drexel. She also notched ground balls in a win over Detroit Mercy and against Bryant.
"Liz gives 100 percent effort every time she steps on the field, and does a great job of setting her teammates up for success," said Head Coach Jenna Dingler. "She is an extremely humble player that is always looking to get better, and doesn't settle for anything less than her best. I am grateful for the opportunity to coach Liz!"
