Nick Cimillo (Airmont, NY / Suffern) was named as a unanimous selection for the MAAC Rookie of the Year as announced at the league's postseason award banquet at Richmond County Bank Ballpark.
Cimillo Highlights:
* Cimillo becomes the sixth MAAC Rookie of the Year from Manhattan after a dominating rookie season that saw the Airmont, NY native rank third in the MAAC with a .345 average.
* Also was tabbed to the All-MAAC First Team after registering 71 hits (2nd MAAC), a .413 OBP (7th MAAC) and six home runs (8th MAAC).
* During MAAC play, batted a league-leading .405 while hitting safely in 18-of-24 league games.
* MAAC Player/Rookie of the Week after hitting a blistering .636 (7-of-11) at GW with a double, home run, four runs and three RBI.
* Registered a team-best 26 multi-hit performances and a 15-game hitting streak.
Fairfield's Jack Gethings was voted Player of the Year while Niagara's Matthew Brash was the Pitcher of the Year and Quinnipiac's Andrew Workman the league's Relief Pitcher of the Year with Canisius' Matt Mazurek tabbed as the MAAC Coach of the Year.
Joining Cimillo on the All-MAAC First Team was sophomore
Matt Padre (Flemington, NJ / Hunterdon Central), while junior RHP
T.J. Stuart (Milford, CT / Joseph A. Foran) and sophomore
Jake Knop (Portland, ME / Portland) were each tabbed to the All-MAAC Second Team. Cimillo along with freshmen
Jonathan Barditch (Miami, FL / Belen Jesuit Prep) and
Sam Franco (Bardonia, NY / Clarkstown South) also garnered MAAC All-Rookie recognition.
