Edison, NJ - The Manhattan men's and women's track and field teams have been picked third and fourth, respectively, in the MAAC's Indoor Track and Field Preseason Coaches' Poll, released Thursday, November 29 by the league. The Jasper men received 46 votes, while the women received 58 and one first place nod.
Manhattan men's track and field completed the 2017-18 indoor season with a third-place team finish at the MAAC Championships, earning seven medals, including gold in the pole vault and high jump.
Brenton Foster was named Most Outstanding Field Performer, while
Eduard Winner was recognized as the male Rookie of the Meet. Manhattan's women's team placed fourth overall, earning six medals, including gold in the 400-meter dash, 3,000-meter run, and 4x400-meter relay.
Lasma Padedze (Ogre, Latvia / Ogre Secondary School No. 1) was named the female Rookie of the Meet after winning bronze in the shot put with a career-best throw of 13.45 meters.
Monmouth, the reigning MAAC men's and women's indoor champions, claimed first place in the both the men's and women's preseason polls. The Hawks have won four of the five MAAC Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships since they entered the league in 2013-14, while Monmouth's women's team has won five-straight championships.
Rider earned one first place vote and 55 votes overall on its way to second place in the men's preseason poll. The Broncs also took second in the women's poll with 77 overall votes and one first-place nod. Quinnipiac took third in the women's poll with 61 votes.
The Jaspers kick-off the 2017-18 season at the TCNJ Indoor Opener this Saturday, December 1 at The Armory starting at 6:00 p.m. The MAAC Indoor Track & Field Championships will return to The Armory February 16-17 for the 16th-consecutive year. For more information, visit
