Lynch, Schob and Seward Pace Manhattan on Day One at Rutgers

PISCATAWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. - The Manhattan men's golf team carded an opening day two-round score of 610 (+42) at the Rutgers Invitational on Friday. The tournament, held at the par-71 Rutgers Golf Club, marks the opening fall competition for the Jaspers.

Sophomores Ryan Lynch (Boynton Beach, Fla. / Park Vista), Johnny Schob (Huntington, N.Y. / Salisbury School) and Charles Seward (Tampa, Fla. / Freedom) all concluded Day 1 at 153 (+11) to lead the team.

Lynch and senior James Edgeworth (Staten Island, N.Y. / Tottenville) turned in identical scores of 75 (+4) to pace Manhattan in Round 1.

Schob and Seward posted scores of 75 (+4) to lead the way in the afternoon, as the Jaspers improved upon their team total from the morning by two strokes.

"The first day of the year is always tough," head coach Frank Darby said. "The guys have some things to work on, but the group certainly has a lot of talent."

Manhattan will compete in the third and final round of the invitational on Saturday.
