Men's Cross Country Finishes 24th at NCAA Regionals

Boston, Mass. -- Led by senior Milos Vuckovic, the Manhattan College men's cross country team finished 24th at Saturday's NCAA Regional Cross Country Championships held on a very muddy 10K Franklin Park Course in Boston, Mass.

Vuckovic placed 55th overall at the meet in a time of 33:01.  Other scorers for the Jaspers on the day were Pat Carroll, who placed 120th overall in 34:16; Zack Price, who placed 137th in 34:37; Kevin D'Emic, who placed 155th in 34:57.  Also running were Stephen Jochem (188th in 35:48; Tom Daly (214th in 37:03) and  Billy Wilkens (219th in 37:10). 

Syracuse University won the event, followed by Iona in second place.  A total of 43 teams participated on the men's side.

Due to injuries & illness Manhattan did not run a full women's squad at the regional event. A four-women squad ran 6K race and the Lady Jaspers were were led by Laura Grotjohann, followed by Mary Consiglio, Jelena Rankovic and Maria Jangsten.  Syracuse University won the women's race, too.

The men's squad will close out the 2009 cross country season next weekend when it takes part in the IC4A Championships Saturday at Van Cortlandt Park in Riverdale.
