Riverdale, N.Y. (July 21, 2008) ? Manhattan College Track and Field Head Coach has announced his recruiting class for the 2008-09 season, a class that should keep the Jaspers at the top of the MAAC and a top track and field squad in the Northeast.
On the women's side, the incoming recruiting class includes middle distance runner Maria Jangsten from Sweden, who has posted a 2:12.91 in the 800m and a 4:43 in the 1500m; Kristi Krull, a multi-event performer from Estonia who has posted a score of 4693 in the Heptathlon and who has long jumped 18'6"; and Heidy Palacio from Saunders H.S. in Yonkers, N.Y. who has run the 400m in 57 seconds.
On the men's side, the class includes Roman Ewald, a thrower who is a member of the German Junior team who has thrown the shot 51' and the discuss 160';.Chandall Fuqua, a hurdler from Lawrenceville,N.J. who is ranked in the top three in New Jersey in the 110 meter hurdles and the 400m hurdles; Alex Hudak, a cross country and middle distance runner from Germany who has one of the fastest 800 times ever coming into Manhattan (1:47.96).
The class also includes Albert Johnson, a long and triple jumper from Corning HS, NY who was this past season's New York State champion in both the long jump and triple jumps with marks 24' and 50' respectively and Karl-Erik Ludvigsson, a hammer thrower from Sweden who has thrown the hammer more than 200' and Milan Milenkovic from Serbia who has long jumped more than 25'.and Andrew Trass, a thrower from River Dell, N.J. who has thrown the high school shot 55' and155' in the discuss and 178' in the javelin.
