Eastchester, N.Y. (April 15, 2007)- Manhattan dropped a MAAC contest to Le Moyne College this morning at Eastchester Field. Prior to the game, the Lady Jaspers honored their six seniors (Pat Karellas, Katelyn Williams, Brenna Tinari, Lauren Civardi, Ashley Devins, and Jenny Carman) with a Senior Day Ceremony.
Le Moyne jumped out to a big lead and never looked back. The Dolphins scored the first six goals of the game to open up a 6-0 lead with 7:41 left in the first half before Jillian McGowan put Manhattan on the board with a nice solo effort at the 7:30 mark. Le Moyne then put together another 6-0 run, spanning halftime, taking a 12-1 lead with 22:10 left in the game.
An Alicia Psillos goal at the 20:12 mark preceded five consecutive Dolphin goals, a run that was ended on a goal by Keri Morrison, with the assist credited to Emilia Ward at the 7:21 mark.
Three more Le Moyne tallies gave the game its greatest separation, 20-3, with 24 seconds left. Showing fight to the end, Manhattan scored the game's final goal with six seconds remaining to provide the final margin. Morrison was on the helping side of this marker, assisting on Helen Kerrisk's goal.
Manhattan will look to qualify for the MAAC Tournament on the conference's final weekend, as the Lady Jaspers will travel to Western New York to take on Canisius College and Niagara University. Manhattan will play Canisius on Friday, April 20 at 7:00 p.m., and will play Niagara on Sunday, April 22 at 12 noon.
