Riverdale, N.Y. (March 26, 2007)?The two main contributors to the Jaspers' scoring outburst on Saturday have been named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's Weekly Honor Roll for their efforts.  In a release by the conference office on Monday, senior Brian Murray was named the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week and freshman Matt Slane captured MAAC Rookie of the Week honors.

The accolade marks the third occasion thus far this season that Murray has appeared on the MAAC Weekly Honor Roll, and deservedly so.  The attackman from Hillsdale, N.J. currently leads the team with 12 goals and 10 assists through the season's first five games.

Murray continued his tear this past weekend by notching a career-high nine points on five goals and four assists.  With help from the senior's new career high, Manhattan produced its highest scoring output in seven years.  The 22 goals in Saturday's 22-10 romp of VMI were the most by a Manhattan team since the Jaspers routed Wagner College by a 26-2 count during the 2000 season.

Slane was right next to Murray in the middle of the Jaspers' offensive explosion.  The freshman attackman found the back of the net four times and added two assists for a six-point day.  Three of Slane's four goals came during an 18-minute span in which the Jaspers outscored VMI 12-2 to pull away.

Winners of four in a row, the Jaspers currently sit at 4-1 overall and 1-0 in MAAC play.  They are scheduled to return to action tomorrow afternoon, March 27 against MAAC opponent Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, Pa.  Face-off is 3:00 p.m.
