Riverdale, N.Y. (October 16, 2007)- The Manhattan College Men's Cross Country team defeated both Iona College and Marist College this afternoon in a 3K race at Van Cortlandt Park. The Iona women's team defeated the Manhattan women's team in a 3K race.
On the men's side, Milos Vukovic won the race in a time of 8:53, while Tobias Lundgren completed the race in 8:57 to pace a 1-2 Jasper finish. Matt Kaftanski (9:16), Tom Murphy (9:21) and Brendan Bethel (9:36) rounded out the scoring five for Manhattan.
Eryka Perreault was the top finisher for the Manhattan women, placing third with a time of 11:06.09. The 2-5 runners for the Lady Jaspers completed the course in a 22 second pack, with Jelena Rankovic placing sixth (11:15.60), Andreina Roel placing seventh (11:17.22), Ellen Dobbin placing ninth (11:32.01), and Angela Bernarde placing tenth (11:37.22).
Both teams now gear up for the Championship portion of their seasons, beginning with the MAAC Championships on Friday, October 26. The races, held at Van Cortlandt Park, begin at 1:00 p.m. with the women's race (6K), followed by the men's race (8k) at 1:45 p.m.
