Jason Spaulding is in his second season as an assistant coach on the Manhattan College baseball staff. Spaulding helped guide the Jaspers to a program record 35 wins and the 2009 MAAC Regular-Season championship during his first year in Riverdale. He mentored a team whose offense set single season conference records in team batting average (.349), hits (657) and doubles (130).
Spaulding joined the Manhattan coaching staff after a decorated coaching career at the collegiate, high school and American Legion level for eight years. Spaulding assists in the daily operations of the baseball office, including recruiting.
Spaulding, a native of Swanton, Vt., lettered four years and served two as team captain at the University of Vermont. A right handed-pitcher, Spaulding finished his career as the school's all-time leader in appearances, while tying for fifth in victories (15) and in the top-10 for strikeouts and innings pitched.
Among the many highlights of his coaching career, Spaulding helped guide the Essex (Vt.) American Legion team to five state titles and a berth in the Northeast Regional Championship in 2004. Over this five year span, his squads compiled a 67-0 overall record in Vermont. Spaulding has also served as an assistant coach for Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans, Vt.
