Kathryn Schumann

Kathryn Schumann joined the Jasper program in the fall of 2019 as an assistant coach for the horizontal and vertical jumping events. She is entering her 11th year of coaching and her sixth at the collegiate level. A well-rounded coach, she develops empowered student-athletes both on and off the track.
 
Schumann comes to Manhattan College after spending three years as an assistant coach at Utica College (NY). Under her mentorship, Utica's men's and women’s teams successfully won numerous Empire 8 Conference individual and team titles, and many qualified for the NCAA DIII Indoor and Outdoor National Championships.

Prior to Utica, Schumann was the head cross country and track and field coach at Mercy High School in Connecticut, taking over for her former high school coach and mentor John Hastings. During her time at Mercy, Schumann's student-athletes won five Southern Connecticut Conference championships, one in cross country, two in indoor track and field, and two in outdoor track and field. In the spring of 2015, her outdoor track and field team won its first CIAC Class L State Championship. Two CIAC Class L runner-up team finishes came in cross country in the fall of 2014, and indoor track and field during the 2016 winter season. Schumann also served as the assistant cross country coach at Longmeadow High School (MA) in the fall of 2011.
 
Schumann earned her bachelor's degree in physical education from Springfield College in 2012, where she competed in track and field. In 2018, she earned her master's degree from Utica. Schumann is a USTFCCCA certified coach in the sprint and jumping events. She is an active member of WeCoach and was a part of the NCAA Women’s Coaching Academy Class #45.
